Projects of Jumbo Projects

The projects division of Jumbo Projects was started in 2009. The division began with the appointment of Jumbo Machine Moving on to the Transnet NMPP fuel line. The division was employed to supply crane trucks that we to assist with the welding of the pipe.

Through excellent service and on-site dedication, the division expanded its operations on the project to include:

  • Transport of all abnormal loads
  • Supply of plant for the hydro-testing teams
  • Delivery of the pipe from the manufacturer to the pipe yards
  • Management of the pipe yards
  • Mobile Cranes for loading and off-loading
  • Stringing operations
  • Cranes and crane trucks for the valve chamber teams
  • Transport of aggregate

At the peak of this project, Jumbo Machine Moving supplied the project with 130 trucks.

Through the experience gathered in this project, Jumbo Machine Moving Projects Division approached additional pipe laying companies in the market. The division was successful in securing contracts with Group 5, Spiecapag and WK Construction. The scope of work increased to pipelines being built into the Medupi Power Station (the Mokolo Crocodile water augmentation program), Sasol GNP, Thoyandou Water, ROMPCO Loop Line; Rand Water Projects and the delivery of pipe to various projects on behalf of Hall Longmore.

In addition to the expansion of the division in the pipeline industry, the Projects division identified the construction of Power Lines as a viable market. The division secured contracts with KEC International to supply cranes and crane trucks to assist in the construction of the Gamma Kappa Power Line being built between Prince Albert and Touws Rivier in the Western Cape. The division also secured various smaller contracts with the Babcock, Steffanuti Stocks and Joyti Structures.

The division has grown substantially year on year and continually performs excellently.

The infrastructure spend in South Africa is due to increase significantly over the next five years. Jumbo Machine Moving, Projects Division, have a good name and track record with the majority of the blue chip firms supplying these projects. Our fleet has grown to support a niche industry, which offers excellent opportunity to procure both additional work and to increase the scope of services offered on projects. The division employs industry professionals and prides itself on excellent service.


The administrative section has a major part in making sure that all projects run smoothly. It is through the experience of the admin team that invoices and all related documents are processed on time and thoroughly. The net result of an efficient administration team is accounts that are current.
